My top tips to keep you well during your cancer treatment

With a cancer diagnosis and treatment plan you feel that much is out of your control. For me it was important to create my own routine/rituals that helped me feel good during treatment. Please note that these were my own personal tools and they are not meant to replace any advice you receive from your professional health care team.

Chemo is without doubt hard on your body and we all react differently but there is much you can do during and after your treatment to ensure you keep as well as possible and continue to live a full, active life.

1. Nourish your body

Research into the benefits of certain foods for help with and protection against certain cancers is vast but there are a few generic tips that will help everyone.

- Ditch the refined sugar

- Add juicing and smoothies to your diet

- Nourish your body with whole plant-based foods

2. Harness the power of your breath

Just ten minutes a day of slow consistent breathing can calm your nervous system. Doing this every morning can change your emotional state for the rest of the day.

3. Keep a gratitude journal

Not every day is good but there is something good in every day.

4. Eliminate as many toxins as you can from your life

- Convert to toxin free household cleaning and skin care products

o Your body is working extra hard during chemo so help it by reducing the number of toxins you are putting into your body.

5. Drink lots of good quality water

- Good hydration will help flush the toxins out of your body and help carry nutrients to our cells.

6. Take care over what you allow into your mind
